Our mission is to provide a spiritual and educational environment where students will be fully prepared to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives. We train children to look at the world through the lens of God's truth, revealed in the Holy Scriptures. By recognizing God as the source of all knowledge, children develop a proper perspective about themselves, others and the world around them. We integrate biblical principles in every class, subject and discipline, encouraging students to pursue academic excellence for God’s glory and their good. We strive to develop young people who demonstrate servant leadership, reflecting the nature, character and attitude of Jesus Christ. Our desire is for all children to realize their full potential in whatever area they are gifted by God. Our goal is to graduate students who will engage and shape the culture as God’s ambassadors fulfilling God’s purposes according to God’s Word.
Curriculum is selected based on what best accomplishes our Goals and Objectives for each subject area and at each grade level. BIBLE Our Bible classes are centered on the Christian scriptures: what they say, what their historical background is, how to interpret and understand them, what is to be believed from them, and how they affect our worldview and our approach to evangelism. The students are given time to read the Bible in class, more or less time depending on the subject being taught; and they use it as a foundation for all that they study in class. In short, the Bible is the textbook for Bible class; all that is discussed, taught, and tested has a biblical, Christian focus. ENGLISH & LITERATURE Analytical thinking, expository writing and creative expression are goals fundamental to our English Program. The ability to reason well, combined with learning grammar and specific writing tools, produces in students the skills to articulate complex ideas clearly using the written word. This ability to write well in turn leads to increased public speaking skills. The ability to impact the culture at large comes from each aspect of our program and is the ultimate goal of our English Program. Plus the study and discussion of literature must be approached from a Christian perspective if we seek to develop within our students a Christian worldview. We seek to teach our students to read carefully and critically with an understanding of the Christian worldview and with the ability to identify opposing worldviews of the authors they encounter. We use novels, short stories, and poetry that have influenced our own culture and endured. HISTORY In our history program we study the people and events that have had the most impact on our world. This is the best way to understand not only the past but our own times as well. Reading about people, events, and ideas first hand gives us the best possible understanding of the period in question. Use of a variety of secondary sources besides the textbook that shed light on a particular time or place is important. Through the study of history, students are trained to discern worldviews and to examine consequences of decisions and debate how other decisions would have impacted the outcome. SCIENCE The science classes seek to educate the student and glorify God. Science classes show students the harmony that exists between scientific knowledge and God's Word. The premise of our program is that we live in a God-created world governed by laws discoverable by reverent scientific inquiry. When an apparent conflict arises between the Bible and science or nature, students will be taught to question both their interpretations of the Bible and of nature. On the rare occasions that the contradiction is not resolved, we stand on the truth that because God has created both nature and the Bible, the contradiction is the result of our own lack of understanding. MATH Mathematics is an expression of the order seen in creation, and thus it serves to show us the logic and symmetry that is in God. Students are expected to master basic knowledge and reasoning skills in order to develop an understanding to apply these concepts to problems that require inductive and deductive logic skills to solve. In math, answers are exactly right or wrong. Truth cannot be relative. This reflects the changelessness of God’s attribute. Mathematics is a language that helps us to build the relationship between faith and fact by revealing to us aspects of God’s character. Mathematics, like science, “sees” God through His creation, and teaches us to develop more fully the complex minds He gave us. FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Students may begin taking a second language in 8th or 9th grade. The study of another language promotes students’ grammatical awareness. Students develop not only an understanding of the rules of the language foreign to them but also an increased understanding of their own language. Students who have familiarity with at least two languages are generally better prepared to encounter further linguistic challenges. The study of foreign languages also enables students to fulfill the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. HEALTH & PE
We seek to develop the whole child. Children learn the fundamentals of how their bodies work as well as what they can do to build up and maintain strong healthy bodies. God would have us care for the bodies He has given us as we are fearfully and wonderfully made. The Health and PE program prepares students to participate in our Athletics program, if they are inclined, which focuses on teamwork and good sportsmanship. Scripture tells us to serve one another, to think of others before ourselves. Therefore, as we learn to work together on the sports field, we will learn to work together as Christians in the building of God's kingdom. MULTI-MEDIA
Although we are not of this world, God has placed us in this world to further His Kingdom here on earth. Through our Multi-Media programs, students are trained to use various forms of technology from computers to video taping and editing, photography and page layout for publishing, to web site development. This program is designed to allow students to hone and use their communication skills – both oral and written – to impact our culture to the glory of God. MUSIC
Students enjoy music through singing, learning music theory and simple form, and participate in two concerts per year. The study of music is a tool to unlock the beauty and mysteries of God’s creation. Music is the champion of integration, for within the study of music lies the science of sound, mathematics, history, poetry, philosophy, and theology. Martin Luther said, “Music is an outstanding gift of God and next to theology...youth should be taught this art; for it makes fine, skillful people. ART
Our Art program focuses on learning the fundamentals of drawing and finishing techniques using various media. Our students also experience art by studying individual artists and their works.
